SwitchWelcome to my domain. I am Switch, and this is R5-B8. May I offer you a drink? My services are available to anyone who can pay. Why have you come?SpacersWe have come for the cargo you are keeping for Maya.SwitchI am holding cargo, correct, and you may take it wherever you wish for the eminently reasonable sum of 1,000 credits.SpacersWhile we do not have that much money, here is a deal - we will supply you with information on a regular basis from wherever our travels might take us.SwitchGood. I agree to this deal. The cargo is in the main docking bay on the Blue Deck. It is a section of the station heavily traveled by Imperial loyalists and one of the few places where Imperial ships dock. Let me also tell you that the cargo is a person frozen in carbonite.SpacersA person? Frozen in carbonite? Why?SwitchThis knowledge is worth 200 credits.

SwitchAlderaanian Security agent was spying on the Empire’s secret interests in the Deep Core. In the months since the rise of the Empire, hundreds of warships have sealed off the few known trade routes into the Deep Core, only allowing wealthy Imperial loyalists in or out of that region of space. Over the last few months, the Empire has set up the Deep Core Security Zone, and Emperor Palpatine himself has overseen the transfer of large amounts of resources and nobles loyal to the Empire there. The frozen security agent had been scouting one of the dozens of worlds that the Empire had discovered during its recent expansion into the Deep Core. Now, Tell me, what are you going to do with this cargo once you retrieve it?SpacersWe have access to a ship, and we are going to bring it to Alderaan.SwitchYou have a ship? Intriguing. I happen to have my own cargo - a crate of Corellian ale - that is also bound for Alderaan. It is stored in that very same docking bay on the Blue Deck, and it can be easily carried by a single person.SpacersWe can help. How much you are willing to pay for the delivery?SwitchWell, I have even a better offer on the table. Normally, to secure my services as a long-term information ally, I require a down payment of 500 credits. However, I offer a counter-proposal: you deliver my cargo to Alderaan, and I will waive the 500-credit fee.SpacersSo we deliver your cargo for free, and you become our permanent contact for free. That makes us even. Sounds good.SwitchCorrect. We are now partners. Once you arrive on Alderaan, you can deliver the crate without complications, and I will provide the information you need, wherever you may be.

Ganga LorSo you thought you could hide your deal with the offworlders from me, droid? I’m tired of not getting my cut! Turn him into a scrap heap, boys!
Dialog transcript
Ganga Lor ordered Switch's bodyguards to switch side and attack Spacers.

Switch thanked the spacers for their assistance and promised to call Dr. Fenn so she would provide them with medical care free of charge if they needed it
| This event took place some months after the rise of the Empire on the Sel Zonn space station in the Brentaal System.Maya, a member of Alderaanian Security and part of Bail Organa’s personal security detail, arrived at Sel Zonn Station. Her mission was to contact a local information broker - a droid named Switch - and recover an important cargo shipment he was storing. From there, she was supposed to deliver the cargo directly to Organa on Alderaan. However, Stormtroopers tried to arrest her just hours after she arrived on the station. It appeared the Empire had already flagged her as a potential threat due to her ties to Organa. She was able to escape, but she was grievously wounded. The Spacers arrived at Sel Zonn Station and headed to the Promenade. They quickly noticed two men wearing identical garments who didn't not appear to be part of the larger crowd. Despite wearing normal traveling clothes, each man was carrying a hold-out blaster tucked into his jacket and was whispering to themselves, obviously speaking into hidden comlinks. Unbeknownst to the spacers, these two were loyal citizens recruited to report on suspicious activity on Sel Zonn Station to the Empire.Moments later, Maya emerged onto the Promenade, clutching her midsection. Noticing the spacers, she headed toward them, calling for help. A few seconds later, two stormtroopers ran in from the south side of the Promenade. They raised their blasters, aimed them at Maya, and shouted that she was under arrest, ordering her to surrender. At that moment, two suspicious men opened fire on the woman with their blasters, and the spacers ran for cover, opening return fire. The stormtroopers entered the firefight, firing stun blasts at Maya and high-powered shots at the spacers, but they clearly lacked experience, so their shots went wide. The fight soon ended: four dead Imperials lay on the floor, and the spacers helped the woman leave the scene before reinforcements arrived.Maya directed the spacers to safe quarters where they could talk privately. Despite her injuries, Maya shared her story with the spacers and asked for their help. They agreed, and she directed them to deep storage bay V14 to meet Switch. Maya assured them that she would provide transport from Sel Zonn Station to Alderaan, and that Bail Organa would reward them handsomely for their efforts. The spacers traveled to the lower decks. When they arrived near deep storage bay V14, they found that they had entered a very neglected part of the station. Many of the lights were burned out, and blaster marks and carbon scoring marred the walls, ceiling, and floor. The area reeked of ozone and electrical fires, and pools of coolant littered the hallways at regular intervals. After making their way through a labyrinth of decrepit corridors, the spacers came upon bay V14, which was guarded by a pair of Gamorreans wielding vibro-axes.The spacers convinced the guards to let them in and went inside. The bay was in poor condition, with entire metal plates missing from the floor and a huge, open exhaust shaft near the back of the room. Large crates littered the area, flickering lights provided modest illumination, and a broken pipe along the ceiling leaked blue fluid down the wall. Near the center of the room stood a large desk made of Japor ivory wood, and behind it sat Switch, a protocol droid with shiny, ebony plating.Switch greeted the spacers warmly and welcomed them to his domain. Introducing himself and R5-B8, his droid companion, Switch offered the heroes a drink from his extensive collection of beverages. He then explained that his services were available to anyone who could pay, asking the spacers why they had come. The spacers explained that they had come for the cargo Switch was keeping for Maya.Switch acknowledged that he was holding cargo for Maya, adding that they could take it wherever they wished for the eminently reasonable sum of 1,000 credits. Since the spacers did not have that much money, they offered him a deal instead: they would supply Switch with information on a regular basis from wherever their travels might take them. Switch agreed to the deal and revealed that the cargo was in the main docking bay on the Blue Deck, a section of the station heavily traveled by Imperial loyalists and one of the few places where Imperial ships docked. The spacers negotiated with Switch to retrieve Maya's cargo, only to learn it was a person frozen in carbonite. After the spacers revealed they had a ship bound for Alderaan, they agreed to deliver a crate of Switch's Corellian ale for free. In exchange, Switch waived his 500-credit fee, establishing them as permanent and equal partners.Blaster fire sounded from outside in the hall, and suddenly the blast doors leading into the storage bay slid open to reveal a number of armed thugs outside. In the midst of the rabble was a large Chevin known by the name Ganga Lor, a local crime lord and long-time rival of Switch. His trunk hung low to the ground and his mouth was twisted in a snarl. Angered at Switch, who conducted his business without sharing the profit, Lor ordered his men to attack and kill everyone.Switch and his companions took cover, while the spacers returned fire. The thugs had no real strategy to their actions - they were straight-up fighters who cared little for complex tactics. Switch’s bodyguards joined the shootout, trying not to hit Lor’s goons. The Chevin had secretly paid them to miss on purpose so that he could take Switch down more easily. As soon as several of Lor's fighters fell, Lor called upon Switch’s bodyguards to switch sides, which they did, joining Lor's men against the spacers. But even though they were heavily outnumbered, the spacers managed to kill all opponents, including Ganga Lor himself.Switch was most grateful for the spacers’ assistance in the fight. He also promised them to call in a favor with Dr. Fenn of Delgas Medical Supplies to get them treated free of charge. | ||
